Andrea Robertson - Pure Soul Show
Growing up at home in North London and listening to my fathers ska and reggae music all day everyday was normal for me, slowly but surely I was bitten by the "bug". Early Gene Chandler ,Barbara Acklin, Hamilton Bohannon and I was away. A full blown obsession and thirst for soul music developed. Record shops and pirate radio were a big part of my early years. As I got older I started clubbin' frequenting Lacy Lady, Royalty ,Le Beat Route and Tots & the occasional weekender set me on the road to collecting soul music. Now djing at local venues in the North East. Crate Diggin' is a passion, I love playing up front Soul, Independant Artists Soulful House, RnB, 2 step late 70's Jazz funk, 80's, 90's "music to make your body groove" moving forward ....sometimes glancing back!
Andy Beggs - The Souldonuts Show
Andy started collecting soul music after buying his first record Wayne Gibson's under my thumb when he was 15, which then progressed to jazz, disco and 60's and 70's soul as well as Soulful House. Although relatively new to broadcasting his "The Souldonuts Show" quickly gained popularity, and so he brings that over to Starpoint Radio. Catch The Souldonuts Show Every Tuesday betweeen 5 and 7 pm, where you will here a mixture of indie and urban soul, mixed in with some classic rare grooves, 70s modern and the latest soulful house... as Andy put's it Suga Coated Grooves !

Lee’s love of electronic music started at a very young age listening to bands like Kraftwerk and Jean michel Jarre . In the early 80's he moved into the electro/hiphop genre until he came across House music around 1985. Now with a great record collection Lee started to DJ at friends parties and seemed to have a natural talent. By 1988/9 Lee had the opportunity to play on London pirate radio station Sunrise FM. After leaving Sunrise he moved to various other stations and in 1995 ended up on London’s biggest and longest running station at the time Energy 87.9 FM. Here he had a 4 hour set on Sundays. This led to a residency in Ziggi's/Goodfellows in Streatham as well as Sniffters wine bar in Croydon, as well as playing at some of the major clubs in and around London such as Camden Palace/Astroia and the Gas club.
Around 1996/7 Lee met his new DJ partner Nathan Ben who also had the same love for music. They started to produce their own music which led to their 1st white label release under the name “The Mighty Dub Team”.
Into the new millennium:
Lee continued to play on various radio stations with new found DJ Nathan Ben (Infinity fm / Eternity fm / Rize Fm). Both had another residency at Croydons Mega Bowl.

Mark Collison Ricky Riscardo, Trevor Martin Steve Szekely - The Saturday Fry Up
The MK Show was born initially out of Kunle Olafare's idea to honour the anniversary of DJ Swing (Brian Daly) who passed away 22 March 2006, by holding a 24 hour radio show on the anniversary of his death to raise funds for the African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust. The show has evolved with Risky Riscardo and Trevor "Soulflavas" Martin joining Kunle and Mark Collison, on rotation, every Saturday morning between 09:00 – 11:00.
Kunle was the promoter at Bournemouth’s popular "Confessions" club nights, mixing upfront RnB with a smattering of real soul.
Mark made his name in the alternative (Soul/Funk) room in the 90’s at the ‘Lollipop’ club nights, where trendy London welcomed the concept of a two room club mixing House and Soul in separate rooms. At the time you would find him spinning at the Iceni, Jazz Juice and the Time Bar, educating the crowd with his love of real soul and jazz.
Risky Riscardo is a professional clubber with a smile on his face – he knows his music! Trevor Martin has hosted TGR's Thursday night 'Soulflavas', spreading his knowledge to the more discerning listeners in SE London/NW Kent and those on line. He has also played at the "Back To Back Hat Sessions" at Islington's "Soul On Your Side" together with co-presenter Mark Collison.
The show is ever evolving with regular guest spots, as well as the guys digging into real soul, jazz, funk, disco, and hip hop.
Join the MK crew between 9am -11am every Saturday!
Mark Gentry - Soul Heaven
Mark started DJ'ing in 1977 whilst serving in the Royal Navy, as well as playing the occasional gigs in nightclubs. Leaving the Navy in 1989, he began working at Ocean Sound in Portsmouth, co-presenting on a Naval Magazine programme which gave him a good grounding in how to present a radio show on a commercial station.
In 1994, Mark joined Radio Victory, another Portsmouth station, as a presenter. The station went on air for a month as an RSL moving over to cable a month later. Mark stayed with the station until 1997, presenting a show called Soul Source.
Mark continued to play the occasional soul gigs until 2006 where he did a stint with Real Love Radio, followed by 18 months at JSR. He joined Starpoint Radio in May 2008 presenting the Soul Heaven Show.
Join Mark each and every Tuesday night from 19:00 – 21:00 GMT for Soul Heaven – Soul with a capital S!

Phil Levene - Eclectic Jazz
Having been bitten by the record collecting bug during his early teens, Phil was persuaded to DJ at local youth clubs and parties. His first major gig was for the launch of a new record label and eventually found himself moving on to the 'Goldmine Club' in Essex, where the small back bar became a regular Jazz room. In turn this lead to his making respected and regular contributions to various gigs across the South East of England. Djing residencies included Southend's 'Back to the tracks' (7 years). 'Monday Nights' at Wag, London’s Jazz Cafe (one of the resident DJ’s for over 8 years) Point 101 (4 years) and the 'Hi-hat' at the Blue Note and the Jazz Cafe (10 years). Guest spots have included the now legendary Sunday session 'Talkin' loud' at Dingwalls, The 'Jazz rooms' in Brighton and 'Southport Weekender'. Groove Sanctuary at Madame JoJo's and upstairs at Ronnie Scotts. Plus countless one off events across Europe and the UK including the Cork Jazz Festival (Ireland), The Latin Beats Festival, (Holland) and the Montreaux Jazz festival, (Switzerland).
Phil joined the now defunct but influential Soul 24/7 internet radio station on the day it launched and continued with his weekly show until it’s untimely closure 5 years later. Presenting 'Eclectic Jazz' for Starpoint Radio has provided a much welcomed opportunity for Phil to explore and pull together the threads of the various styles of music that have been inspired and influenced by the genre of jazz. Phil's passion for music has resulted in an ever expanding collection of Soul, Funk, Jazz, Latin, Brazilian, Disco, Afro Beat, Broken Beats, Nu-jazz and music that defies being pigeon-holed. Pulling this rich mixture of joyful sounds together is both a challenge and a pleasure for Phil. www.eclecticjazz.com
Ray Ali - Underground Repairs
Ray, simply loves Boogie and US Garage. This is reflected in his show which he calls,
'Underground Repairs', which as the name suggests encapsulates the purism ,ingenuity and rawness in dance music. His inspiration stems from the likes of Phil Allen, Dezzi D and Steve Devonne on the Boogie Tip. He basically sees US Garage as the natural progression of disco and the early 80s sound. He keenly acknowledges the inspiration of the New York sound from the 90s and although the second hour of his shows is predominantly upfront , tribute is still paid to the tunes that spanned that era. So expect lots of diversity in the mix where Ray is accompanied with Mo Silvase, his long time House Buddy.

Sean O'Connor - Soulful Reflections
Sean O'Connor from Morecambe in the North West of England and have been into the soul scene since first attending the Morecambe Pier all nighters working behind the bar in the main room. It was listening to soul sounds there that really brought me into listening and buying soul records. This was further enhanced listening to influential DJ's such as Pete Haigh and in particular Richard Searling. My tastes vary from 1960ss Motown and northern soul right through to the soul sounds of 2009 and much in between. I have been a co promoter of the North Lancs Soul Festival which is now in our third year bringing soul fans and djs together from all over the country and a co promoter of the Seaside Soul Club in Morecambe which is now in its sixth year.www.seasidesoul.co.uk
I have presented radio shows for my local Community Radio station Diversity FM in Lancaster and nationally on Solar Radio and now Starpoint Radio. I hope to be able to bring something to the station perhaps from a north of England perspective and plenty of good music. I used to write for On the Scene magazine and soul up north and thoroughly enjoyed that experience. The internet has brought me into contact with so many soul fans up and down the country and hope that you can listen in each month with dedications, requests and gig news
I have Dj'd at national events such as Soul Togetherness at the Tower Weekender and Togetherness all nighters in Morecambe and also at events in the North West such as The White Bull and The Orwell.
When I'm not playing out I also provide radio commentaries for Morecambe Football Club home and away each season
The music presented at these nights and on the radio show will be from The Past The Present and The Future

Steve King - Soulful Sounds with Steve King
Steve King started in radio with his Nyte Flyte show for IBC Manchester (The Illegal Broadcasting Company).
The show ran from 1987 till 1990, and concentrated on Steve's first and last love in music, soul.
In 1991 Steve started a new show for IBC called, We're Only Here For The Beer, which he co-presented with Quantice (Liam Fitton). Two guys, who's passion for great music was matched with banter that had the audience eating out of their hands. The show fast gained itself a cult following in and around the Manchester area, for its wacky style of presenting, along with playing classic cuts from electro, hip hop, soul and funk.
This brought Steve to the attention of Duncan Smith, who at the time had his own show with Steve Quirk (The Dream Team) along with being the program controller at Sunset Radio.
In 1993, Duncan offered Steve a Sunday morning slot at Sunset. The shows focus was on the best of days producers / songwriter in black music.
Today Steve has a show on Internet Stations based in Manchester, England and Saltlake City, USA.
Soulful Sounds combines the great sounds from the 80s & 90s including Steve's very own slowjam mixes and interviews.

The Phatman - Phatman's Garage City
The great thing about this true dj is that you've probably already danced to his music.
From the sweet age of 4 this soul-rooted funkster was listening and buying music, spending his hard earned pocket money on the melodies that built House music as we know and adore today.
A talent born from FAL belt drives (who remembers them?!), as a 13 year old Phatman was playing soul & funk at his local social club rapidly progressing to private parties and his first residency at 'Waves' in Thamesmead.
Today expression is made technically way more interesting through Pioneers CDJ1000's and laptop libraries only enhancing the experience he's putting out on dancefloors every weekend. Guaranteed, this guy will get everything going.
Venues such as: Zoo Bar; Oxygen Bar (8 year residency); Hombre's Club; Tiger Tiger; Maximus; Storm; Penthouse; On Anon; Hipperdrome; Buzz Bar; North Pole; Bar 57; Kavros in Greece; Sound; Pirate Radios (My 1st Love Radio), Radio stations World Wide FM, RTM Radio and Millenium Solar Radio- now a residency on Starpoint Radio thru (Sky or the web), are just some of the places Phatman has touched with his endless floor-filling tunes.
Welcome to the site of DJ Phatman. May his love for soul kissing music filtrate your feet and put a big grin on your face.
